Our history in Canada

Wood Group is a market-leading global energy services provider with headquarters in Aberdeen, Scotland and employs 43,000 people in 50 countries. Wood Group is the parent company of Wood Group Mustang.

Wood Group Mustang launched in Canada September 2013 through the merger of IMV Projects, Wood Group PSN (Western Canada) and Mustang Canada. The merger combines the strengths of these Alberta-based companies with the award-winning experience and capabilities of Wood Group Mustang’s pipeline, automation and process plants to provide expanded service offerings to Canadian customers.

IMV Projects Inc. was founded in 1999 as a local Calgary engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) company and grew to be one of Canada’s top three engineering companies for heavy oil production projects. In 2007, with more than 600 people, Wood Group acquired IMV Projects for their expertise in Canada’s oil sands.

With the purchase of Tartan Engineering in 2008, Production Services Network (PSN) created a Western Canadian division built on more than 30 years of experience in the energy and utilities industries. Wood Group acquired PSN in 2010 and formed Wood Group PSN (Western and Eastern Canada divisions).

Mustang Canada was incorporated in 2008 as a regional entity to support Wood Group Mustang’s automation, offshore and refinery and chemicals businesses in Canada.

Wood Group Mustang, established in 1987, provides EPCM services from concept to completion. With more than 8,000 people operating in every region of the world, Wood Group Mustang provides engineering excellence and predictable operational performance. Wood Group Mustang was acquired by Wood Group in 2000 to become the leader of the Process and Facilities Group in the Engineering Division.
